New photos from St James’ Park shows key change ahead of the 2023/24 season

New photos have emerged from St James’ Park, showing safe standing has been implemented in the Strawberry corner ahead of the new season.

The club announced that they would be trialling safe standing for 1,800 supporters following an online survey which was responded to by over 4,000 fans – 75% of which favoured the decision.

More rail seating has also been put into place in the away section to add to the 600 that were installed before the beginning of the 2022/23 season, and they will now also be permitted to stand.

Some fans had spotted that seats had been removed from the corner almost immediately after the final home game of the season in preparation for the change.

It looks like that transformation has now been completed and a small number of our fans can look forward to standing areas returning to St James’ Park for the first time since the 1990’s.
