Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh scored on his debut for Feyenoord as he secured the victory from the spot in a pre-season game against PEC Zwolle.
The 18-year-old only signed for the Magpies this summer but was immediately sent out on loan to the Dutch side to gain more first-team minutes.
In his debut, his new team were 2-1 up against fellow Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle before Feyenoord were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute, which Minteh was able to slot home in the bottom-right corner. Watch the goal below:
Our Gambian youngster was not supposed to be on the penalty initially but his manager, Arne Slot, insisted that he took it perhaps to help him build up some confidence.
It’s definitely a good sign to see the coach wanting to develop the young talent and it promises to be a more beneficial loan spell than some of the ones we’ve seen in recent years.
It’s about time that we had 1,youngsters with promise.
