Former Toon midfielder targeted by Sheffield United after nightmare move gets worse – Report

According to The Mirror, Sheffield United are considering making a move for Jonjo Shelvey; who’s been told he has no future at Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder left the Magpies somewhat surprisingly in January in search for more minutes, but his time with Steve Cooper’s side hasn’t exactly gone to plan.

Cooper axed Shelvey from his squad back in April when the 31-year-old reacted poorly to being left out of the starting XI for Forest’s trip to Anfield and he’s now been left out of his pre-season training camp in Spain.

However, Sheffield United could be handing the former England international a lifeline to save his Premier League career and help to steer the Blades to safety this season.

It’s a shame to see someone who was quite well liked at Newcastle shoot himself in the foot so quickly after leaving, but hopefully he can get back to his best form soon enough, wherever that may be.

  1. How do you know he shot himself in the foot? Do you know him personally or just made that up ?

Well, he got himself a bad reputation didn’t he?
I would also point out to others that none of the stories about Shelvey are from Sheffield sources, so this all just seems like the agent/club trying to get their player some attention & out of the hole he dug himself.. Might I additionally suggest that Leeds’ wage structure might be more accommodating, and their need of experienced players is greater? Or a Saudi club maybe? He is absolutely not a target that fits Sheff Utd’s stated criteria, and after just landing Anis Slimane, Tunisia’s most outstanding midfielder (on far less money than Shelvey & 7 years his junior) he has even less chance of a move to Bramall Lane.
