Newcastle agree deal to sign Southampton’s Tino Livramento – Sky Sports

Some breaking news has emerged from Sky Sports News in the last few moments, announcing that Newcastle United have finally agreed a deal to sign Tino Livramento.

They report that the two clubs have agreed a fee for the 20-year-old after weeks of talks, handing us a major breakthrough in our bid to sign the England U21 star.

Livramento was left out of the Saints squad travelling for their first game of the Championship season at Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow; a telltale sign that a move was in the offing.

A few hours later, it’s emerged that a deal has now been agreed, although Sky Sports are yet to reveal the fee Newcastle look set to pay. We had a £30m bid rejected last month, with reports at the time suggesting that Southampton were holding out for £40m.

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem, with it widely reported that the player is keen on a move to St James’ Park. As we revealed in an NUFC Blog exclusive two months ago, Newcastle have been in talks with the player’s camp since June, with Livramento sharing the same agent as Eddie Howe.

The right-back will compete with Kieran Trippier and also give us an option at left-back, with the former Chelsea talent two-footed and able to play down either flank.

  1. No need for a left back in the shape of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal if Livramento is capable of playing left or right.
Hope he is as good as Ashworth thinks he is.
