Toon handed Onana hope, Almiron and Trippier’s exit stance & late sale on the cards?

Newcastle have been handed a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of Amadou Onana, while there have been further updates on the futures of Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier and Jamaal Lascelles this afternoon.

Starting with Onana, Jacque Talbot at FooballlTransfers reports that Everton are ‘open’ to doing a late deal with Newcastle and would sanction a January sale if the price was right. However, it’s thought they are currently demanding around £60m; a fee currently beyond our capabilities due to ongoing FFP restrictions.

That said, the fact they are willing to do business suggests there could be room to negotiate, with the Toffees having an FFP battle of their own following a recent points deduction and second case under investigation. They are unlikely to accept any loan-to-buy deal, however.

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder reports that Miguel Almiron has told Toon chiefs that he does not want to leave St James’ Park this month, insisting he and his young family are “not open” to a move this month. This comes after serious interest from Al-Shabab, yet it seems a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia is something he is not entertaining at present.

As for Kieran Trippier, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reports that the 33-year-old is NOT pushing for a move to Bayern Munich despite being ‘flattered’ by their offers. It’s claimed he is relaxed about the situation due to his ‘close bond with Eddie Howe and club owners.’

Then to Jamaal Lascelles, who is continuing to be linked with a move to Besiktas. Fanatik journalist Gökmen Özcan claims the Super Lig giants are ‘very close’ to agreeing a deal for the centre-back at an ‘affordable price’ after reports yesterday said Besiktas officials were due on Tyneside this week for talks.

It remains to be seen if there’s any truth in these big claims coming from Turkey, although it is worth noting that the 30-year-old is out of contract this summer. Lee Ryder insists that Lascelles would prefer to stay on Tyneside and sign a new deal, but this would be our last chance to secure a fee for the skipper if he does run down his contract.
