  1. I see the Chronicle are running the story about us wanting another 3 players (centre back, winger and striker). I have been saying this all along.

  4. Yes, Ice and there was a one line mention of it in the Guardian but none of the local press seem to know anything. I just hope we haven’t missed the boat with him. He’s going to be a good player and the staff and the club should have reconised that and offered him the going rate last year. Non of this incentivised ****. He’s probably already aware of what he will get from other other clubs. Just hope he sees a future here.

  8. And this is what the official NUFC website says:

At 31-years-old, and with almost 400 career games under his belt for the likes of Watford, Wycombe and Torquay United, Williamson has been there, done it and got the T-shirt when it comes to pre-season.

  11. Well we have needed pace at the back for god knows how long…like others, still think we need an experience centre back, because in an ideal world i’d get rid of all three of our “senior pros”

Good signing though, at least some money is being spent!

Should probably take a look at Mclaren blowing money on players playing in leagues no better than the championship

  13. Also cheers for setting up the league’s shamrock, lucky I saw your post then as I barely get on here anymore and may have missed out on getting in, resulting in at least a season of whining on my part

    included money plus a player

  15. Ice…as far as I know it’s just a max of 17 non home grown regardless of nationality. I think we had more than 4 last season non EU with Colo, Jonas, Good, Cisse, Tiote and the likes of Citeh were probably in to double figures with their Argies, Africans and Brazilians.

  17. Really odd. That pic on .com has now disappeared and everyone else reporting signing tomorrow. As odd as his age.
Also a lot of Moutinho rumours flying around. Sounds impossible to me. Anybody heard anything?

  18. Hope we start seeing some progress on players out as well, Obertan, Gouffran, Williamson, Elliot, Ferguson, Bigirimana, Vuckic & Marveaux will be in limbo next season if they aren’t moved on.

We could do without players not in the 25 man squad, wasting the 3 overage spots in the U21s we should be using to build up 1st teamers fitness after injuries

  19. Icedog: I have taken a few years away from the rat race. Did some travelling, took me Mam and Aunt on a tour of the North, saw a brother in Holland, another in Thailand. I figured I would do this whilst I am still relatively young (50) and can still appreciate it.

  20. Ice: When I was back in England to see me Mam I met a friend who I used to play cricket with. He was an electrician for the Brenkley pit and when Thatcher (spit) closed it down he joined the Police. His job was to go to NUFC away games and arrest people. In Milan and Naples sometimes (no Mackems need apply). He told me that they had a quota that they had to fill and would just arrest the “usual suspects” if they needed a few to top up even though they hadn’t done anything.

  23. Newkie I did not set the leagues up. That honour goes to Aussie and Bros. I’m just trying to help fill the quota up so we can all enjoy the banter this season 🙂

  25. Stu – sorry mate, I’m away in the Lakes at the moment and been out all day. It was the Star I think, also saw it in the Guardian as well. I can’t see McClaren spending all Ashley’s money on these players coming then risking loosing potentially our biggest asset coming through. I’d hope not anyway.

Has the Mbemba deal be finalised yet?

  26. Lol @ .com reporting Mourinho link only to find the ‘source’ is a fake Twitter account with a picture of a dead bloke on it. That Ed will jump on anything that moves the dirty so and so 😆

  27. Actually, the copper that I talked to gave me a bit of an insight into how the Police work. He said he would join in with the NUFC fans and have 8 to 12 pints and then arrest a few of them. AFTER he had HIS heart attack at 47 he quit drinking. It was quite a funny conversation, well, apart from the fact he was telling me that he as a Policeman made semi-random arrests when he was drunk.

He said he would “take them down” in a wrestling move and lay his elbow into their chest. Coppers 🙂

  28. And, when I was back in Newcastle I went to the Moor House and Nelly Gibson said to me “what are ya taakin’ liek that for?” Because I have lived away from Newcastle for 30 odd years and nobody can understand me if I said “Aye hinny, give is a bottle of broon and hev one fer yersell, like”.

  29. ERIC it will be true cops are the biggest crooks,I was once doing a bit of courting in a shop doorway (midnight) shop next door was broken into (lockup) I said nowt three burly guys, cop car came two cops filled the boot with booze fags ect,ten mins later another cop came with shop owner and asked him to write down everything that was missing, who’s the biggest crook

  30. Icedog: I also worked at Seaton Burn Clurb and the coppers would come in at closing time and neck 3 pints for free. I am not really saying that much against them because they have a hard job. But they also retire at 50, and at 25 in Greece 🙂

  31. Things were very different back pre-PACE in the 70’s and 80’s. Naturally you still get the odd rotten Apple these days too but Nothing like it used to be. Police now retire at 60.

  32. Just looking up Leon best. He hit 1 in 4 whilst with us – a decent return and the best return in his career to date. Since he left us he has sucked. He has been unbelievable poor.

He has since played 56 games and scored 6 in 3 years. Only 28 as well. Seems that injury at the beginning of his Rovers stint really took the sting out of him…

  34. Sham @ 128 I was meaning to email you about seeing how to get Kims name up at the top as author. But I have been flat out lately with doing the daughters house. then the mate’s son just died on sunday night while away on holiday to ibiza so my head is all over the place atm

  35. Ice the wee lad flew out on sat night with 12 mates for a weeks holiday, and someone complained on the flight about the noise so he got pulled in by the police at the airport, and got a bit of a beating so they tryed to forget about it and get on with their hols. He was found dead in his hotel room on sunday afternoon. He was only 21 and one of the best kids you could meet.

Dave really sorry to hear that. The lad was far too young. Every parents worst nightmare. Be strong for your mate like I know you will. I have seen a lot in my career and to this day I still don’t know how parents cope with such a loss but they often find the strength to carry on with a good network of support around them.

  38. Prem thankfully our PSNI have decided to send officers out to ‘ help ‘ the Spanish police with their investigations.
I have been coping well with it even though I have known the kid from he was a baby, plus spent 60 + hours tattooing him, but after speaking to his dad tonight it has hit me like a brick. So sorry for that

  39. Big D: that is so sad, man. I was being a bit flippant about the Police earlier because of the NUFC related conversation I had with an ex-schoolmate. But that is really bad.

  42. Look at this:

“During his time at Ajax, De Jong clocked up a total of 244 appearances for the Amsterdam giants, hitting the back of the net 78 times and providing his team-mates with 48 assists.”

If he can do anything close to that for us…Breathe Seim, in and out. Keep those lungs filled.

  43. It’s a cliche, but he really will be like a new signing if he stays fit. Same with Aaron’s. Fingers crossed for them both. Could be key players bringing much needed creativity and end product from midfield.

I do have to admit Shane Warne is brilliant as a bowler and commentator. But you are not Oz though are you BrisV?
