Transfer talk – a round-up of today’s NUFC news & gossip – 02/07/2018

A round up of all of today’s news & transfer gossip:

  • According to the Chronicle, Newcastle have now been quoted a fee of £30m to sign Kenedy on a permanent deal, however the Evening Standard are suggesting a loan with option to buy could happen – Full story here. 
  • Sky Sports have confirmed that Nice striker Alassane Plea is someone Newcastle are ‘trying to sign’ this summer – however it seems we are not the only ones, with West Ham having already lodged a £27m bid for the striker – Full story here. 
  • According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle are ‘increasingly confident’ of pulling off the signings of Kenedy AND Andros Townsend – however Matt Ritchie would almost certainly be sold if we were to fund a deal for the latter – Full story here. 
  • After being heavily linked with him over the weekend, the agent of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro has confirmed that Newcastle are interested in signing him – however it sounds like Wolves and Southampton are too – Full story here. 

  •  According to the Mirror, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are ‘leading the race’ to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings this summer – Full story here.
  • As revealed by the Chronicle, new signing Ki Sung-Yueng turned down offers from AC Milan, Everton and West Ham in order to complete a move to Newcastle United – Full story here. 
  • According to the Chronicle, Rafa Benitez ‘wanted to sign’ West Brom striker Salomon Rondon this summer – however it quickly became evident that it was going to cost much more than his £16m release clause to sign him – Full story here.
  • After we confirmed the signing of former Sunderland midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng, the Mackems have taken to social media to have their say – and they don’t sound bitter at all – Read their amusing comments here.
