New top target revealed, defender leaves for medical & Jeff Hendrick departs – NUFC round-up

Today’s Newcastle United news and gossip:

  • As revealed by The Telegraph, Newcastle United have identified Alexander Isak as the club’s top attacking target and are currently in talks with Real Sociedad over a potential club record deal – Full story here.
  • Jeff Hendrick has completed a move to Reading, joining the Royals on a season-long loan – Full story here.
  • Ciaran Clark is also closing in on a move away, with The Athletic revealing that he’s currently undergoing a medical at Sheffield United ahead of a season-long loan.
  • Newcastle United have announced a ‘long-term commitment to safe standing’ at St James’ Park. Rail seating looks set to be installed in part of the away end, but any changes to the home end will have to wait until 2023, subject to a consultation process with Newcastle supporters – Full story here.
  • Elliot Anderson has been speaking about his future today, admitting game time is his top priority ahead of the new season – whether that’s on Tyneside or with another club on loan. Full story here.
  • According to The Express, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign January target Duvan Zapata for just £15m – a fraction of the price Atalanta were demanding just a few months ago. Full story here.
  • French outlet Le Parisien report that Hugo Ekitike has agreed to join PSG after ‘rejecting’ a move to Newcastle United, however the Ligue 1 giants are yet to strike a deal with Reims. Full story here.
