Ex-NUFC boss returns to management alongside £10m man he almost signed in 2011 – Photo

After spells in the Netherlands (ADO Den Haag) and Bulgaria (CSKA Sofia), Alan Pardew is continuing on his European tour after signing a deal to become the new manager of Greek club Aris FC.

The former Newcastle United boss has been out of work since June, but a one-year deal sees him become Aris’ third manager of the year following the departure of former Atletico Madrid caretaker manager German Burgos.

The move will see the 61-year-old link up with Gervinho – the former Ivory Coast star who he almost brought to St James’ Park before Arsenal beat us to a £10m deal way back in 2011.

It is expected the new manager will be in the dugout for the first time this Sunday, in a tough opening fixture against last season’s league winners Olympiacos. Pardew arrives with his side in sixth place after four games with a record of two wins, one draw and one loss.

It will be the third European club he has managed after a five month spell at ADO Den Haag in 2019-20 preceded his most recent role, when Pardew took the reigns at CSKA Sofia as both technical director and manager – however he left after just five weeks after several of his players and assistant manager Alex Dyer were the targets of racial abuse by the club’s own supporters.

Here’s a few photos of Pardew at his new club:
